Hi everyone! It’s been a while. As with many of you, I have found myself functioning, albeit through a haze of shock. I find no other way to explain the fact that I haven’t really felt like singing – something I usually do all day, everyday – in weeks. (Having had a cold for 2.5 weeks doesn’t help either..)
At present, my music studio is converted to a sewing studio! I find my peace in sewing cloth face masks for hospitals and other vulnerable community groups that need them. As part of a wonderful community group called “The Sewing Army”, our family made 63 masks last weeks and target 50 for this week. We made them for the mask drive at @mghfoundation in East Toronto, for healthcare providers we know, housing projects in Toronto, family and friends in NYC and elsewhere. Swipe to see pictures of masks!
Doing this gives me a sense of control over some small piece of this situation, like I can help make a little piece of it better than it would have been. Everyone has their own way of pitching in, and this is mine.
The music will come back soon. But for now, I feel like this is what I need to do.
Love to you all.
Keep safe.
Keep your loved ones safe..
