Solo Piano/Vocals at Don Heights

First solo piano gig !

Last Saturday (May 5) I had the pleasure of performing Sunday service with the Don Heights Unitarian Congregation in North York. I have been working to learn accompany myself on piano for jazz vocals – practising my 7th chords (those dreamy, dreamy 7th chords .. ☁️✨✨🤩), inversions, and what not – for about a year and a bit now.

It was a good time to share  progress. Probably the most nervous-making gig I’ve had (!) 😰😰, but I knew it was a milestone that needed crossing. I had the pleasure of playing the church’s 1924 Steinway piano, refurbished and gorgeous. While I was nervous, playing that lovely instrument really added such joy, I could have gone on…  and the event went well !

Again, as I get my Youtube act figured out (one spinning plate at a time, that’s what the circus taught me 🎪), will start adding solo performances.
