“Manike” Live at Nathan Phillips Square now on Youtube

Here is the full performance of “Manike” from last Sunday’s Panorama India event at Nathan Phillips Square.

Featuring the Sargam Studio band with lead Deepak Gandhi, Mandeep Gandhi and Shivo Mohabeer on percussion, Glen Fernandez on guitar, Sam Raj on bass, and myself on lead vocals.

While the original viral YouTube cover is in Sinhala, here we do a mix of the Hindi and Sinhala versions. The band follows the Bollywood soundtrack, my Hindi lyrics are a mix of the Bollywood version and the Hindi rap from YouTuber Muzistar, and I occasionally go into Sinhala. Fun stuff. At the very end I sing the refrain in Sinhala and for good measure, throw in some jazzy-bluesy interpretation.
